Hong Kong Company Reintroduces Sugarcane Bagasse Tableware After 20 Years, Seizing New Environmental Opportunities

Hong Kong-based company Purearth began promoting sugarcane bagasse tableware over 20 years ago. At that time, the market was not mature, and the company faced significant challenges. Founder Han Ruiyuan noted that the initial high cost of products and limited consumer acceptance of eco-friendly items led to difficulties for the company.

However, with the global increase in environmental awareness and the Hong Kong government's implementation of the "Plastic Tableware Ban" policy in April 2024, the market environment has changed. Han decided to re-enter the Hong Kong market, improving product performance and reducing costs to meet consumer demand for eco-friendly tableware. Currently, Purearth's products are adopted by several restaurants and dessert shops, receiving positive market feedback.

Han emphasized that Purearth's sugarcane bagasse tableware is free from harmful chemicals, featuring waterproof and leak-proof properties. They are safe for use in microwaves and ovens, and their prices are comparable to plastic tableware, meeting consumers' dual needs for environmental friendliness and practicality.
